Who is this for, anyway?

One question raised after doing this first trial for this new project was: Is this for children? Well, why not? But sometimes I don’t really know the answer.
Here are some of the preceding steps. The first rough had too much drama to it, that I am a little embarassed to bring it up here…  hmm… oh, well:
  Then this one:
I had the composition refined, and then used some old beauty commercials to build the texture of the apple:
And for those who like to explore the tiny details, here you go:

Wonderful! And I really like the hidden idea about beauty creams as a false temptation…
Very special dwarfs…I can see this as a metaphor very interesting, at least for me…
    Congrats!

Hey Marian, I am really happy for your comment, thanks! I am not sure this piece is going to get in, I might choose a completely different concept, for various reasons, but thanks anyway, it is encouraging.

Isol, it is a great pleasure to have you pass by and leave your comment, since I know your work and I highly admire it. Thanks for your sensitive observation!

    Wonderful ,
I love the fact the dwarves are not "regular" dwarves. The idea to use the commercials within the apple are so smart.
It is, beyond doubt, very suitable for my children. My child would admire it. (and point at the apple and say – yum-yum).
    How is the typography made?
Is this part of a larger project?

Shahar, thanks!! Yes it is a part of a project (I think we had a chat about it) I am not sure I'm going to fit this in though… As to your child, well, I think he's too young now but until I finish this project he will probably be too old…(:
Typography is hand written and painted. I am not sure about it either… lots of doubts…

I like the typography, It's fun! I wish more texts would be hand made in illustrated books. After all, there were times when an illustrator and a typographer were the same thing.
As for my child, I already train him to have good taste in illustrations and I count on my book obsession to be hereditary.

Don't give the publishers any ideas please, since I don't think we're gonna get any extra money for hand made typography(:

ofra, esta ilustración me fascina, la expresión de los enanos, su postura y la gama de colores que usaste son precisos y muy bonitos.
    cariños,
