New and Old News

Another bunch of updates of the last two months:

There was a small exhibition of prints of “Bruno” illustrations in the beautiful and charming book shop Sipur Pashut in Tel Aviv, where at the opening we read the book in Hebrew, a temporary and not very perfect translation for Nadia‘s words but that’s all we’ve got at the moment, and it was worth it. It was very moving to have people react to the story as a whole, the visual AND text together, this symbiosis that makes me happy. I also spoke for the first time about the book and the work process, it was a very pleasant conversation with Yotam Shwimmer, editor of excellent online magazine of children’s culture and literature, Hapinkas. I am thankful to everyone related to this nice evening.

We have just been notified that “Bruno” of Orecchio Acerbo Editore is one of the two finalists for Naples Award, under the category of books for children and youth. I don’t really know much about this award but it is an award for Italian literature. The other book competing in this category looks very beautiful (I haven’t seen it or read it yet), “C’era una voce”, written by Alessandra Berardi and illustrated by Alessandro Gottardo (Shout), Topipittori publishing house, which also wrote something about it. The list of finalists here.

Also, the 5th Bruno Schulz Festival is going to take place in Drohobycz, Ukraine next September, 6th-12th. Nadia and myself will speak about “Bruno” at the festival. Exciting. You can find the program here.

Last update is the arrival of Communication Arts Illustration Annual #53, in which “Bruno” and “A Wolf, a Princess and Seven Dwarves” appear under Book category.

Also those two books are to be in 3X3 Pro Show illustration annual.

That’s all for now, next time I will write about some new illustrations to be added soon to my online portfolio. Ciao…
